This project features large, tactile Braille tiles depicting a sentence. The work explores themes of decoding and signaling, inviting viewers to engage in a tactile narrative. Though visually captivating, the tiles challenge those who rely on sight alone, as they cannot be traditionally "read" without touch. In this way, meaning is accessed through a combination of viewing, feeling, and interpreting. By absorbing the physical presence of the Braille, viewers are encouraged to find understanding beyond conventional visual perception.
The first iteration of this piece, Not a Cloud, specifically speaks to a child. A simple phrase that is intended to spark a consistent and playful dialogue. Do You Remember, the second iteration of this series, is a direct translation of a personal letter. A desperate plea to be seen and remembered.
